CPU Stress Test & Benchmark

Stress-test your processor with multi-threaded Web Workers computing intensive Prime Number sieves and SHA-256 cryptographic hashes. Evaluates peak performance and thermal throttling.

CPU Stress Testing & Thermal Throttling Guide

How to Use This Tool

  1. Choose how many Threads to test (the default automatically matches your processor's total logical cores).
  2. Select a Stress Algorithm: Prime Sieve (integer logic), Matrix Math (memory & cache), or Cryptographic Hash.
  3. Click "Start CPU Stress Test" to begin generating heavy computational load.
  4. Monitor the Compute Throughput (MOps/s) and observe the timeline graph for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Click "Stop Test" whenever you want to return your CPU to idle.

Diagnosing Thermal Throttling

When computer processors heat up past safe thermal boundaries (typically 90°C–100°C), CPU firmware automatically reduces clock speeds to protect the silicon. On the timeline graph, thermal throttling shows up as a gradual drop in MOps/s after 30 to 60 seconds of sustained load. A flat, steady line indicates excellent laptop or desktop cooling.

Why Your Browser Tab Won't Freeze

The stress engine utilizes HTML5 Web Workers executing on dedicated background threads. This separates the heavy computational math from the browser's main UI thread, so buttons, graphs, and scrolling stay completely responsive during testing.

Is Running a Browser Stress Test Safe?

Yes, 100%. Modern processors have built-in hardware thermal protections and power management units. Browser-based Web Workers cannot bypass operating system kernel limits or overvolt your hardware.
