Webcam Information & Hardware Guide

How to Use This Tool

  1. Click "Query Camera Specs" (or allow the camera prompt when the page loads).
  2. If you have more than one webcam, select the device you want to test from the camera list.
  3. Review the Resolution Support Matrix to see which video modes (4K, 1080p, 720p, etc.) your camera supports.
  4. Check the Hardware Capabilities and Supported Codecs sections below to see what features (like auto-exposure, zoom, and video formats) your browser can access.

Understanding the Resolution Test Results

The test tries requesting each standard resolution directly from your webcam. A green "Supported" badge means your camera hardware and driver successfully delivered that resolution. If higher modes like 1080p or 4K show "Failed", your camera may be limited by its image sensor, USB 2.0 bandwidth, or operating system driver settings.

Why Some Advanced Controls Show as Unsupported

Features like hardware zoom, manual focus distance, or custom white balance require specialized driver support. Many standard webcams use fixed-focus lenses or lock these settings in automatic mode. If you need fine-grained manual control, you may need the manufacturer's dedicated software (such as Logitech G HUB or Elgato Camera Hub).

Device Privacy & Data Security

All hardware querying is performed directly on your device through standard browser APIs. No camera identifiers, serial numbers, or video streams are ever transmitted to our servers or saved anywhere.
