How to Use This Tool
- Click "Start Camera" to activate your preview.
- Select your preferred duration (2, 3, or 5 seconds) and frame rate. Check "Boomerang Loop" for a forward-and-reverse bounce effect.
- Optionally type meme text into the Top Text and Bottom Text fields.
- Click "Record GIF". A 3-second countdown gives you time to get ready before recording begins.
- Preview your animated loop and click "Download GIF" to save it to your computer or phone.
Why GIFs Look Slightly Grainy
The animated GIF format was created with a technical limit of 256 colors (unlike modern video which uses millions). To represent your camera feed, the browser calculates an optimized color palette and blends shades using tiny dots (dithering). This is normal for all GIFs and gives them their classic look.
Tips for Small, Shareable File Sizes
Animated GIFs can get large quickly with high frame rates or lots of motion. For quick sharing on Discord, Slack, or Reddit, a 2 or 3 second duration at 15 FPS provides a great balance of smooth motion and small file size.
