Mouse Hardware Test
Test all mouse buttons: Left Click, Right Click, Middle Wheel Click, Side Buttons (Back / Forward), live cursor coordinates, and freehand tracking canvas to detect sensor angle snapping.
How to Use This Test
- Click each button on your mouse: Left, Right, Middle Wheel, Back (Button 4), and Forward (Button 5). The virtual diagram lights up as each switch is pressed.
- Roll your scroll wheel up and down to check wheel detent registration.
- Draw smooth circles and diagonal waves inside the Tracking Arena canvas.
- Verify that the drawn stroke is smooth and continuous without jagged gaps, cursor jumps, or straight-line snapping.
What Is Angle Snapping (Sensor Prediction)?
Some office mice have built-in "angle snapping" designed to help draw straight lines in paint programs. In gaming, however, angle snapping forcibly straightens subtle curved movements, making micro-adjustments difficult. If drawing smooth diagonal lines results in staircase-like horizontal or vertical steps, angle snapping is active.
Testing for Sensor Spin-Out & Skipping
Flick your mouse as fast as you can across your mousepad. High-grade optical sensors maintain accurate tracking even during lightning-fast swipes (up to 400–750 inches per second). If your cursor suddenly freezes or flies straight into the screen floor, the sensor is spinning out.
Fixing Jittery or Stuttering Mouse Movement
- Trapped Hair or Lint: Inspect the tiny optical sensor hole on the bottom of your mouse. A single hair or piece of dust can refract the infrared LED beam, causing erratic tracking.
- Mousepad Cleanliness: Dust and oils on cloth mousepads can create uneven friction spots. Cleaning your pad restores uniform tracking.
